Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power Supply will be suspended at Narayanappa Street, Angappan Street and Moor street at Muthialpet area between 9 a.m and 5 p.m on Monday for maintenance work.

Minister's visit to veterinary poly-clinic

Animal Husbandry Minister Geetha Jeevan reviewed the working of the veterinary poly-clinic in Saidapet and the Central Referral Laboratory on Friday. She inspected the facilities and stressed on the protection of dogs of Indian breeds. She wanted the department's programmes to be propagated duly to the public.

Bank opens new branch

Andhra Bank has opened a new branch at Neelankarai. This is the 54th branch of the bank in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. New branches in Villivakkam, Sholinganallur and Manavalan Nagar, Tiruvallur, would be opened shortly, a bank release said.

Aero-modelling course

The Hobby Club will conduct an advanced aero-modelling course to provide information on gliders, flight-simulators, remote-controlled and engine-powered aeroplane models. The course is open to anyone above 10 years. Schools can also contact the club (Ph: 9283198818) for extra-curricular training.

Yoga workshops

Free workshops on meditation will be conducted by the School of Yoga (190A, Pettukola Towers, P.H. Road, Kilpauk) on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Call 55872723/ 9380560781 for details.

Temple consecration

Rajarajeswari Ashram temple in Nanganallur will celebrate Maha Kumbhabishekam on July 2 and Maha Samprokshanam of Sathyanaryana temple on July 16. Kumbhabishkam will be performed to Raghavendraswamy Brindavam, Saligramam on June 28 and homams on the preceding two days.

Aptech convocation

A convocation ceremony to felicitate students of Aptech Computer Education, Arena Multimedia and SSI Education was recently on Thursday. A job fair and guest lectures on IT industry trends were held on the same occasion.

Food mela

The Kerala Catholic Society is organising a food mela in aid of their Charities Project of free training for employment. `Ready to Eat' and food `To Go' will be available at the stalls at St Bede's School Premises, Santhome on Sunday (8 a.m - 3 p.m). Items on the menu will include `Appam Stew', `Kappa Meenkurry', `Kozhukottai' and `Aval Vilayichithu' among others. Tickets are available from KCS members or at the venue.

Competition for students

The Young Men's Indian Association will conduct competitions in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi for students of Higher Secondary classes and under-graduate courses. Individual prizes will also be awarded. Entries are to be sent to YMIA, 66, Armenian Street, Chennai - 600 001, before July 1, through the institutions.
