Special Correspondent

GUWAHATI: Suspected Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) militants abducted 12 woodcutters from Kaki forest reserves in Karbi Anglong late on Friday night. They later released four of the abducted, asking them to tell the family members of the remaining eight to pay a ransom of Rs. 7,000 each for their release, said L.R. Bishnoi, DIG, Karbi Anglong.

Mr. Bishnoi said that security forces had moved towards the reserve forest and launched a search and rescue operation. Till now they have not been able to get any clue about the whereabouts of the abducted woodcutters, who are from a village in Nagaom district.
