  • The Integrated Skills in English exam has four levels
  • No age bar for the tests

Coimbatore: Trinity College of London will conduct its examinations in English this November, Orient Longman, the national managers of the examinations in India, has announced.

For those planning to pursue their education in the U.K., the certificates of the examinations of Trinity College will be of help, says Shuchita Chaturvedi, Marketing Executive of Orient Longman.

The Trinity College conducts a battery of examinations for non-native speakers of English, and Integrated Skills in English (ISE) examination is one of them. It assesses all the four language skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking. There is no age bar for taking the ISE.

However, it will be more suitable for college teachers and professionals, she says. "The examination is an opportunity for college students and professionals to continue their education and work abroad," she adds.

The ISE has four levels, ISE 0, the basic user level, ISE I, the independent user level, ISE II, second stage of the independent user level and ISE III, the proficient user level.

ISE 0 requires the candidate to take up tasks in reading and writing, ISE 1 and II have the similar tasks, but with a greater degree of complexity. For ISE III, the candidate has to undertake a correspondence task and one on creative writing.

In addition, a one-to-one interview will be carried out by an examiner from Trinity College, London. The examiner will leave a report of the candidate. The certificates will be sent to the centres where the candidates took their examination, within 12 weeks of completion of all the components of the examination. The results can be a pass with distinction, pass with merit or pass.

September 5 is the last date for filing registrations. For details, contact: Shuchita Chaturvedi at 044-28523346/28523358/ 9840565148.
