VIJAYAWADA : Man has created God in His own glorified image, according to Nanduri Ramamohan Rao, former editor of Andhra Jyothi. Addressing a gathering after releasing a book written by Parakala Pattabhi Ramarao, a freedom fighter and a senior journalist, Mr. Rao said the book was an attempt to delve deep into the age-old question raised by legendary Telugu poet Gurajada Apparao: "Manushulu chesina devullara! Mee peru emiti?" (`Gods created by mankind, what are your names?'). Gurajada Apparao wrote the first modern short story a century ago. His consecutive work, `Devudu chesina manishullara! Manishulu chesina devullara! Mee peru emiti?' threw up a healthy debate, which continued to be a topic of discussion in literary circles. He said Mr. Ramarao had done a lot of research before coming out with the book. Noted litterateur Addepalli Ramamohan Rao said issues raised by Gurajada like religious fundamentalism and social reforms were relevant even today. Eedpuganti Nageswara Rao, editor of Visalandhra presided.
