Letters to the Editor
The Readers's Digest survey naming Mumbai as the rudest among 35 major cities of the world seems distorted. As any regular visitor to the city will tell you, the cosmopolitan culture is deeply enshrined in Mumbai.
V.S. Rajangam,
* * * The finding comes as no surprise. But it is true of Chennai too. Over decades, respect for values has deteriorated. In the West, not saying "excuse me," "sorry" and "thank you" is considered disrespect. Unless Indians learn to be polite and courteous, no amount of liberalisation will bring in the desired results.
B.V. Subramanian,
