ANANTAPUR: Former Minister and son of TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao, N. Harikrishna has hoped that the party will regain its past glory soon, and it is evident from the response of people he had been witnessing in the recent weeks. People appeared to be eager to teach the Congress Government a fitting lesson as the ruling party leaders had become indifferent to the people's woes after ascending to power by making impossible promises before the last Assembly elections, he said while addressing a press conference here on Sunday. He predicted good days ahead for the TDP due to the failure of Congress on all fronts. From the helpers of people in need, the farming community of the State had now become alm seekers due to erratic power supply and lack of remunerative price to the agriculture produce. Women and minorities were also deceived by the Congress with false promises, said Mr. Harikrishna, who made a re-entry into the TDP recently. Stating that his family starting from his father had a special affection for Rayalaseema, particularly Anantapur district, he said they were ready to stand by the people of the region anytime. He alleged that the Congress had got removed more than 100 votes of TDP supporters in every village with the fear of defeat. He warned the Congress that the TDP was ready wage a `kurukshetra' if the former continued to attack TDP men. Before being TDP supporters they were citizens of the State first, he reminded. Meanwhile, Mr. Harikrishna proved to be a crowd puller for the Opposition party as was evident from the people's response to his road shows and street-corner meetings as part of his electioneering on Saturday and Sunday. His emotional style of speech on the lines of his late father kept the TDP supporters as well as the onlookers glued to his road shows.
