DINDIGUL : More than 650 teachers in primary, secondary and high secondary schools in Dindigul and a little over 300 teachers in Theni districts got transfers to their desired places through general counselling held on Saturday and Sunday. The Department of Education made elaborate arrangements for the general counselling for teachers seeking transfer within and between districts and among unions at St. Joseph's Girls higher Secondary School and St. Cecilia Girls Middle School in Dindigul. Sources in the Department of Education said transfer orders were issued to 289 teachers, including 76 headmasters of primary schools, 120 teachers in secondary schools and 21 headmasters of higher secondary schools and postgraduate assistants, Tamil teachers and special teachers on Sunday. Already, the Chief Educational Officer, Rama Pandurangan and the District Elementary Education Officer, T. Murugesan, gave away transfer orders to 117 teachers seeking transfer within district and 290 teachers, who requested transfer from one union to another union in the district on Saturday itself.
About 76 teachers were promoted as headmasters.
A total of 700 teachers applied for transfer to various places.
Theni
A total of 183 teachers and headmasters working in elementary and middle schools in the district got transfer orders.
Of these, 150 teachers were transferred to other districts and 33 teachers promoted as head masters.
The general counselling meant for district-to-district transfer for teachers was held in the town on Sunday.
Counselling session for teachers in higher secondary schools was also held here the same day.
Transfer orders were issued to teachers concerned at the session itself. Meanwhile, 34 teachers were also promoted as headmasters for primary schools.
