Belgaum: A debate is on here on Belgaum MP Suresh C. Angadi's letter to Chief Minister H.D. Kumarswamy seeking the transfer of Deputy Commissioner Shalini Rajneesh and Superintendent of Police Hemant Nimbalkar from the district. Mr. Angadi led a delegation of seven BJP MLAs from the district and submitted the letter to the Chief Minister a fortnight ago. Even Belgaum district in-charge Minister Jagadish Shettar and legislators from other parties in the district have supported the demand for transfer of the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police. Mr. Angadi told The Hindu here on Sunday that the Chief Minister had no respect for the elected representatives. He admitted that the Chief Minister did not consider the delegation's request for transfer of the two officials from the district. He said all MLAs from the district were in favour of transfer of the two officials because of their "poor performance". Although the Government had provided Rs. 139 crore for relief works, people continued to live in pathetic conditions in many flood-hit areas of the district. Although the Deputy Commissioner was the administrator of the Belgaum City Corporation and the Belgaum Urban Development Authority, drinking water supply system was not being managed properly and residents were facing water shortage, he alleged.
