Darshanapur calls for awareness campaign on environment

CONCERN FOR ENVIRONMENT: Agriculture Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur inaugurating the function to mark the Environment Day in Gulbarga on Sunday.

GULBARGA: Agriculture Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur on Sunday urged the people to be aware of the impending danger of damage to environment and ecology because of pollution and excess use of chemicals and pesticides in the farm sector.

The Minister was inaugurating the World Environment Day organised jointly by the Parisara Jana Jagruti Sangha, Children Education Society, Shahabad, and the Hyderabad-Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry here.

Mr. Darshanapur said the need of the hour was to launch awareness campaign to educate people about the dangers of pollution. Air and water pollution were posing a threat to the public health and if not checked, the situation would go out of control.

Emergence of new diseases and complicated treatment procedures to control them were the fallout of the ecological imbalances and the diminishing immune control mechanism in the human body.

He commended the Parisara Jana Jagruti Sangha and other organisations for taking up the cause of protection of environment and taking up campaign among the people about pollution. FKCCI vice-president S.S. Patil, HKCCI president Umakant Nigudgi, and industrialist Shivasharanappa Allad were present.
