TDP hits back at Congress

YSR remarks come under criticism

  • There are irregularities in revision of rolls in all villages, alleges TDP leader
  • Rosaiah urged to take steps to check spread of chikungunya

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party on Sunday rebuffed Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's charge that it had lost credibility and was only indulging in mud-slinging by repeating allegations of irregularities in electoral rolls. At a press conference here within hours of Dr. Reddy's criticism, TDP general secretary M. Renuka and former MP Alladi Rajkumar wondered if the Congress leaders knew the meaning of credibility.

Dr. Rajkumar criticised the Chief Minister for getting the stay on panchayat elections ordered by the single judge vacated without even reading the judgment properly.

Ms. Renuka said there was no village without allegations of irregularities in revision of rolls. "Even if one assumes that a minimum of 100 names are tampered with by way of exclusion in one list, the number of votes involved runs into lakhs."

    Chikungunya cases

Referring to the "alarming" increase in chikungunya cases in the State, she urged Health Minister K. Rosaiah to take required steps. "This is our wake-up call to the health machinery," she said, demanding that the Government provide free medicines to the affected persons.
