Homeo medicine for chikungunya

KURNOOL: A panel of homeo physicians led by M. Vidyasagar and Yadubhushan Reddy distributed homeo medicine for chikungunya to the staff of APSRTC.

Poll official's directive to agents

APPSC departmental tests postponed

HYDERABAD: Departmental tests, to be conducted by Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission from July 6 to 11, have been postponed in view of panchayat elections. The revised schedule will be announced later, according to a press release said. - Special Correspondent

Elected president of tax bar association

HYDERABAD: Laxminivas Sharma, chartered accountant, has been unanimously elected president of the Andhra Pradesh Tax Bar Association for 2006-07. He is the past president of the Federation of AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The other office-bearers of the association are D. Venkat Ramana (vice-president), D. Swamy Reddy (secretary), V. Nagendra Prasad (joint secretary) and Arun Kumar Sehgal (treasurer). - Special Correspondent

Detonators, gelatine sticks recovered

SRIKAKULAM: The police have recovered 36 detonators, 18 gelatine sticks and a bundle of electrical wire, reportedly left by Maoists, near Kusumala village in Mandasa mandal.

The police found the dump on Saturday night while they were combing roads and other vulnerable areas as part of their election duty. - Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: K. Chandra Sekhar Reddy is the new president of the Employees' Welfare Association of Andhra Pradesh Technology Services.

Two electrocuted

Kakinada: A private electrician, N. Ramana, 38, was electrocuted while he was trying to set right wires atop an electric pole near Krishnuni cheruvu area in Pithapuram on Saturday night.

In Medak district, a farmer, Pittla Ramulu, 35, of Yavapur village died when he was trying to change a streetlight. Ramulu and his brother volunteered to change the bulb, as village helper was not available at that time.

Election material damaged

KARIMNAGAR: Telangana Rashtra Samiti activists damaged banners and cut-outs of Congress candidate K. Rajitha at Elabaka village in Veenavanka mandal on Sunday.

According to the police, the election material was damaged by TRS leader Satyanarayana Reddy and three others due to political rivalry. Based on a complaint by the Congress candidate, the police registered a case. - Staff Reporter

Panel's appeal on shop names

HYDERABAD: T he Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission has asked owners of shops and Government/private establishments to ensure that names of their establishments are displayed in Telugu before the Labour Department initiates action against them.

The Andhra Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act mandates that the names of the establishments be displayed in bold Telugu letters first and any other language could follow this. Commission Chairman A.B.K. Prasad has reminded them the call given by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to abide by the Act. - Special Correspondent
