BANGALORE : Anirban Tarafdar of Canara Bank claimed the men's singles title in the Canara Union State-ranking table tennis championship, beating A.R. Navneeth of Horizon Club 8-11,11-5,14-16,11-7,11-9,11-0 here on Sunday. In a well-fought encounter, Anirban held the edge with an array of attacking of strokes and Navneeth, despite a bright start, fell victim to his own temperamental approach. The mercurial, but talented youngster came short on consistency by getting piqued when it mattered most. After losing the fifth game narrowly (11-9), he crashed out with a spate of unforced errors. Other results: Singles semifinals: Anirban bt C.K.Yatish (Horizon) 11-4,9-11,9-11,9-11,11-6,11-8,11-5; Navneeth bt Avinash Amanna (Horizon) 15-13,7-11,12-10,7-11,11-7, 9-11,11-9. Doubles final: C.K. Yatish & Avinash Amanna bt Suhas and Bharath M. Urs 10-12, 11-7,11-7,11-8. Special Correspondent
