CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu's young Grandmaster Deepan Chakkravarthy's chances of participating in the prestigious World Open tournament in Philadelphia from June 28 hang in the balance. The India No. 5 from Madurai, keen to play in his first major senior international tournament, is the only one among the 10 players who still has to get the U.S. visa. Deepen has to leave at least by Monday evening and for that the U.S. consulate here has to help him out, according to All India Chess Federation secretary D.V. Sundar. Sundar said that the trip of the team to U.S. had the clearance of the Government of India. In fact, he said all the other players had received their visas, three of them S. Meenakshi, S. Vijayalakshmi and D. Harika from the Consulate here. "We are hoping that Deepen too will get it in time so that he will not miss this big opportunity," he said. The other members of the team are: Surya Sekhar Ganguly, Sandipan Chanda, D.P. Singh, Abhijit Kunte in the men's section and Swati Ghate and Nisha Mohota in the women's section. Manuel Aaron and Udaya Kanthi Ghosh are the coaches accompanying the team. Special Correspondent
