NEW DELHI: Sergei Rublevsky stretched his winning streak to five games at the expense of P. Hari Krishna and pushed the Indian to the four-player pack at the bottom after seven rounds of the Aerosvit 2006 International Grandmasters chess tournament at Foros, Ukraine, on Saturday. When the action commenced after a day's rest, Rublevsky came up with a 21st-move queen sacrifice in his Sicilian game against Hari. Before long, Rublevsky had a rook, two knights and a bishop for Hari's lone queen. Hari accepted the inevitable and resigned after 28 moves. The results (seventh round): Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukr, 4.5) bt Liviy-Dieter Nisipeanu (Rom, 2.5); Alexander Areschenko (Ukr, 3) bt Andrei Volokitin (Ukr, 3.5); Alexei Shirov (Esp, 3.5) drew with Vioral Bologan (Mol, 4.5); Sergei Rublevsky (Rus, 5.5) bt P. Hari Krishna (Ind, 2.5); Alexander Grischuk (Rus, 4) drew with Ruslan Ponomariov (Ukr, 2.5); Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Aze, 3.5) drew with Sergei Karjakin (Ukr, 2.5). Eighth-round pairings: Nisipeanu-Grischuk; Volokitin-Ivanchuk; Bologan-Areshchenko; Rublevsky-Shirov; Ponomariov-Mamedyarov; Hari-Karjakin.
