Sharath Kamal loses in semifinals

CHENNAI: Sharath Kamal lost to Lee Jin Kwon of Korea 11-7, 9-11, 6-11, 11-8, 8-11, 9-11 in the semifinals of the Brazilian Open table tennis championship at Sao Paulo.

Kwon will meet country-mate Cho Eon Rae in the final.

Earlier, Sharath Kamal had scored an emphatic 11-8, 7-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-3 win over Bertin Christophe of France to storm into the last four.

Important fourth game

``My attacking play was strong today, I was powerful. The crucial stage of the match was the fourth game. I was leading by two games to one but Christophe was ahead 10-7, I won the next five points and that turned the match in my favour,'' Sharath Kamal said after the semifinal match. ``I thought about the match, I watched Christophe play yesterday (Saturday), he's tall like me so he has a good reach and that means he's good near the net, so all the time I tried to force him back.'' — Agencies
