SCR breezes past Artillery Centre

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway recorded a 6-1 win over Artillery Centre in the Super Six hockey championship here on Sunday. The Artillery team took the lead in the 13th minute thanks to the enterprising Osman Bin Abdullah. However, SCR equalised through Chengappa in the 41st minute off a pass from Mayur Subbaiah. SCR never looked back after that as Mayur converted two penalty-corners and Prabhakar Singh scored once off a pass from Amit Srivas. In the final minutes, Dung Dung struck twice to complete the rout.

USC triumphs

United Sports Club (Lothkunta) scored a 4-2 win over Darhul-ul-Shifa in the SAAP prize money football tournament here. Sanray (2), Nagaraj and Zarick (one each) were the scorers for the winner, while Abu Bawar and Akbar were successful for the losing side.

SBI `A', RBI in final

State Bank of India `A' will take on Reserve Bank of India in the team championship final of the Y. Taraknath Memorial inter-bank carrom championship here.

The results: semifinals: RBI bt SBI `B' 3-0 (V.S.K. Naidu bt K.S.N. Murthy 25-0, 25-10; Raghunath bt Sreenivasa Rao 25-0, 25-11; D.N. Rao & Chandu bt Ramulu & Collins 17-16, 20-15).

SBI `A' bt SBH 2-1 (A.V. Prasada Rao bt G.S. Sastry 25-2, 25-5; M. Srinivas & Subrahmanyam bt Pasha & N.K. Chowdhury 25-4, 25-4; Venkat Rao lost to K.T.B. Saproo 21-9, 20-25, 8-25).

Kranthi, Shabnam clinch honours

Kranthi Kumar and Shabnam, both from Hyderabad 10K Foundation, clinched honours in the boys and girls under-12 years 2km event of the Hyderabad 10K Road Races here.

National indoor cricket

The sixth senior National indoor cricket championship will be organised by ML Jaisimha Cricket 365 Academy from June 26 to 30 at its premises in Sikh Village, according to Vidyuth Jaisimha, chief coordinator of the Academy. Sixteen teams will vie for top honours in the event to be inaugurated by India `A' captain Venugopala Rao.
