Special Correspondent

Topics like education, diseases and career will come up for discussion

JAIPUR: The proficiency of 150 astrologers will be put to test at the three-day-long third international astrologers meet starting here on Monday.

Topics like as education, diseases, children, career, family life and janam kundalis (horoscopes) will come up for discussion during technical sessions as well for test at the end of the convention, being inaugurated by Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil.

The convention promises a fine mix of science, medicine and astrology with Ashok Pangaria, eminent neurologist and Principal of the Sawai Man Singh Medical College here delivering the inaugural address. Dr.Pangaria is an exponent of holistic medicine.

A horoscope bank, for a more "scientific" study of those seeking to know their future, is being launched by the Jaipur-based Bharatiya Prachya Jyotish Shodh Sansthan, the organisation sponsoring the convention on the occasion.

Pandit Akhilesh Kumar Sharma, the founder of the Sansthan said that a pool of 10,000 horoscopes was already with the body.

The horoscopes would be scrutinized and studied with the help of computers. A website also was being launched, he informed.

The Sansthan presently runs "Jyotish Kovid", a diploma course in astrology, which is recognized by the Union Human Resources Development Ministry.

As for the proficiency test in the astrological calculations, the winner will be presented with a gold medal instituted in the name of the late Pandit Deenanathji, the royal astrologer of the former Jaipur State. Half a dozen astrologers from Nepal are expected to participate in the convention.
