Cash stolen
A businessman lost Rs. 6 lakh after he was duped by two persons on Saturday afternoon. Police said Ramanathan, a resident of Velachery, was on his way to finalise a property deal when two persons on a motorcycle slowed down and told him that petrol was leaking from his car. Mr. Ramanathan stopped the car on Whites Road off Anna Salai to check the "leak." Meanwhile, the men stole the suitcase with cash on the backseat. Police are investigating. A house break-in was reported from Tiruvanmiyur on Saturday evening. Gold weighing 40 sovereigns worth Rs. 2 lakh were found missing from Shanmugham's house on 29th Cross Street. Police said Shanmugham was not at home when neighbours alerted his wife Ambuja and son Raghavesh about the open back door. Later, they found the bureau broken open and the valuables missing.
