TAMBARAM : Steps would be taken to provide daily supply of water to residents of Alandur Municipality, M.K. Stalin, Local Administration Minister said. Speaking after dedicating two overhead water tanks at Balaji Nagar and K.K. Nagar, the Minister said at present the residents were receiving water only once in three or four days. With the opening of the water tanks, water would be supplied on alternate days, Mr. Stalin said, adding that steps would soon be taken to provide daily water supply. Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways and South Chennai M.P. T.R. Baalu, Labour Welfare Minister and Alandur MLA T.M. Anbarasan, Municipal Chairman R.S. Bharathi and officials took part in the function. The overhead tank at Balaji Nagar has been built at a cost of Rs. 32.36 lakh with Rs. 20 lakh from the constituency development of former Alandur MLA C. Shanmugham and the rest from the Alandur Municipality's funds. The tank at K.K. Nagar has been built at a cost of Rs. 42.7 lakh with the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited contributing Rs. 10 lakh and the Alandur Municipality spending the balance. Mr. Bharathi said the new facilities would benefit around 15,000 people in five wards of the Municipality.
