New FM radio channel to be launched

KOCHI: Prasar Bharati Chief Executive Officer (CEO) K.S. Sarma will launch FM Rainbow, the news radio channel, at a function to be held at Fine Arts hall on Monday. Sebastian Paul MP, will preside over the function. A Compact Disc containing light music selections, produced by the Thiruvananthapuram station of the All India Radio, will be released on the occasion. The channel will be on air from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. It will be a live, interactive music channel. The frequency of the new channel will be 107.5 MHz, according to a press release. — Staff Reporter

Seminar on CA as career option

KOCHI: Major changes are envisaged in the new curriculum of CA course to be implemented shortly. The changes are meant to equip students to face new challenges in the changing socio-economic scenario, said V. Murali, Chairman, Board of Studies, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He was inaugurating a seminar on CA career awareness programme organised by the Ernakulam branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. — Staff Reporter

Policeman dies in accident

KOCHI: A head constable attached to the Kannamaly Police Station died after the two-wheeler on which he was travelling collided with another near Eramaloor on Saturday evening. Police said the victim, Shaju, a native of Kumbalanghi, could not be saved despite being taken to the Lakeshore Hospital. — Staff Reporter
