BANGALORE: The State Government will introduce a legislation for internal reservation soon to set right the "injustice" meted out to some of the scheduled castes. It will be discussed in the next Assembly session, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has said.

He was inaugurating "Punarutthana Samarambha" organised by the Adijambhava Mahashabha here on Sunday.

Mr. Kumaraswamy promised all support to the community and said that funds would be sanctioned for the construction of Jagjivan Ram Bhavan.

Study centres would be established in the names of Sharana Aralayya and Madara Chennaiah in universities to propagate the teachings of religious heads from the community.

"To me, caste is not important. My priority is to provide basic facilities to the poor people in the State," he said.

Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said that those from reserved communities should be aware of their rights. The Government would extend benefits to them, he said.

Mr. Yediyurappa said that Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes would get Rs. 95 crore under the Ganga Kalyana Yojana. A sum of Rs. 35 crore would be spent on building hostels for minorities this year, he said.

As many as 25 Morarji schools would be built for the Scheduled Castes and five for the Scheduled Tribes this year, he said.

"The Government will implement the recommendations of the Nanjundappa committee for overall development of the backward sections in the State.

Loans at the rate of four per cent will be extended to people belonging to minority communities in the State," Mr. Yediyurappa said.

The Government would appoint a committee to look into the problems faced by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, he said.
