Toastmasters Club's anniversary celebrations

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Bangalore Toastmasters Club held its 10th anniversary celebrations here on Saturday. The club is an affiliate of the Toastmasters International and was formed in 1996.

"The Bangalore Toastmasters Club is the most inexpensive club in Bangalore and is open to all, be it students, professionals or housewives," said S. George Timothy, president of the club.

"The objective of the club is to help people overcome the fear of public speaking, improve leadership qualities, reading habits and listening skills," said Melvyn Smith, vice-president, Public Relations.

The Toastmasters Club also organises an eight-week workshop in schools and colleges for public speaking and confidence building and also has a youth leadership programme. At the end of the programme, students receive a certificate. The programme is conducted by members of the club who have been certified as competent leaders.
