Pushcarts given to vendors

Bangalore: Mayor Mumtaz Begum on Sunday distributed pushcarts to vendors, asbestos sheets to people in slums, sewing machines to women, stipend to 158 people and notebooks to 500 students.

Citing the opening of a maternity hospital in the area, Ms. Mumtaz said the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike had reached out to people from economically backward sections with several schemes. People should avail themselves of the benefits, she added. The distribution ceremony took place at Ulsoor. Deputy Mayor M. Lakshminarayana and former Union Minister C.K. Jaffer Sharief were present.
