BANGALORE: Tragedy struck four youth staying in a rented room when a gas leak turned near fatal in Thyagarajanagar Police Station limits in the early hours of Sunday. The police said Ramesh (24), Girish (18), Gangadhar (21), all hailing from Kundagol in Dharwad, and Muthu (22), hailing from Tamil Nadu, were staying in Vajrappa Building on 2nd Main, Thyagarajanagar. They were working in a private company. One of the inmates woke up around 2.30 a.m. on Sunday and switched on the light of the bathroom without realising that there was a gas leak in the room. Fire engulfed the room and the four who suffered burns were rushed to Victoria Hospital, the police said. Thyagarajanagar Police have registered a case.
Youth stabbed
Two men stabbed a youth who was returning home and tried to rob him of valuables in the Vijayanagar Police Station limits in the early hours of Sunday, the police said. The police, who gave the name of the victim as Shahabuddin (20), resident of Goripalya, said he was walking home around 1.30 a.m. as transportation was not available when the two men threatened him with a knife near Manuvana Bus Stop. When Shahabuddin offered resistance, the men stabbed him and fled the scene. The youth has been admitted to a hospital, according to the police. Vijayanagar Police have registered a case. Investigation is on.
