Two alleged drug peddlers held

NEW DELHI: Two alleged drug peddlers have been arrested at Millennium Park in South Delhi by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The NCB claim to have recovered 4.5 kg of heroin from their possession.

According to the NCB officials, the accused, later identified as Padmvir Singh and Sarfaroz Khan, had come to the park on Sunday to hand over the consignment to their contact when they were arrested. During interrogation, they allegedly revealed that they were from Agra in Uttar Pradesh.

Four arrested on murder charges

NEW DELHI: Four young men were arrested on charges of killing a eunuch at Seelampur in North-East Delhi in April on Saturday. The police claim to have recovered bloodstained clothes of the accused.

The police had recovered the body of the eunuch from a DDA park. Investigations led them to zero in on Nawab Ahmed, Abdul Salam, Mohammad Ajim and Nasimuddin, who were subsequently arrested. During interrogation, they allegedly confessed to their involved.

Three held for selling adulterated cement

NEW DELHI: Three young men who were allegedly selling adulterated cement packaged in sacks bearing names of renowned companies were arrested at Nandnagri in North-East Delhi on Saturday.

The accused were identified as Pramod (20), Javed (27) and Fayeem (25). The police claim to have recovered 123 sacks containing adulterated cement at their instance. During interrogation, Pramod allegedly disclosed that he had started the business about a month ago.

Prostitution racket busted, two arrested

NEW DELHI: Two young men and three young women were arrested at Prashant Vihar in North-West Delhi on Sunday for allegedly running a prostitution racket.

Acting on a tip-off that Hitesh Sharma and his accomplice, Kamal, were into sex racket, the police laid a trap and arrested them along with three women. During interrogation, one of the women allegedly revealed that her father is a head constable in the Border Security Force and is presently posted in Jammu and Kashmir. The other two said they were from the Capital.

The police said Hitesh and Kamal's brother had earlier been arrested for their involvement in auto-theft cases.

One held for selling pirated CDs

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have arrested one person for allegedly selling pirated VCDs and DVDs and recovered about Rs. one lakh from his possession.

A 45-year-old Liyakat Ali was arrested after police raided a premise in Sunder Nagar where he has stored pirated CDs, police said on Saturday.

About Rs. one lakh in cash, 800 VCDs, 75 DVDs, 25 MP3 and 363 inlay cards of audio casettes and VCDs were recovered from his possession, they claimed.

Hindi channels

NEW DELHI: Compared to print media, news channels were found lacking in reporting about health issues, according to an analysis of prime time bulletins of six prominent Hindi channels. The analysis, carried out by the Centre for Media Studies (CMS) for a month, brought out that reports on major diseases -- Malaria, TB, disability, Cancer and STD -- were not included in the prime time bulletins.
