Three rath yatras of Lord Jagannath today

VISAKHAPATNAM: Three rath yatras of Lord Jagannath will be organised separately by Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj, Jagannatha temple on the Main Road in the city, and at Ukkunagaram on Tuesday - as part of the colourful annual festival.

Thousands are expected to take part in the car festival of the Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj - behind the All India Radio station.

The deities of Jagannath, Subhadra and Balabhadra will be taken to the Gundicha temple at Lawson's Bay near Shanti Ashram at 4 p.m.

The return yatra will be held on July 5, according to the president of the Samaj S.C. Choudhury.

The car festival of the temple on the Main Road will be taken out at 4.30 p.m. from the temple premises to Turner's Choultry, where the three idols would be kept till July 7.

During the sojourn at the Choultry, Lord Jagannatha would be decorated in Dasavatharas of Lord Vishnu, according to the executive officer of the temple N. Subbarao.

The return yatra here is slated for July 8. The rath yatra at Ukkunagaram temple will begin at 3 p.m. and the return yatra is scheduled for July 5.
