dated June 27, 1956: Ceylon PM meets Nehru

The Ceylon Prime Minister, Mr. S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, met Prime Minister Nehru at tea on June 25 at the residence of the Indian High Commissioner, Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Pandit, in London. It was the first meeting between the two Prime Ministers since Mr. Bandaranaike came to power in April last. When he came out he just smiled in reply to a reporter's question whether he had anything to say. The two leaders discussed the problem of the people of Indian origin in Ceylon as well as issues that are to be discussed at the Commonwealth Prime Ministers' Conference.
