CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been active over coastal Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka and Kerala and at a few places over Lakshadweep and interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The following stations recorded very heave to heavy rainfall in centimetres: Karwar 14, Kollur (Udipi dt) 13, Ankola (Uttara Kannada dt) 12, Kumta (Uttara Kannada dt) 11, Bhatkal and Gerusoppa (both Uttara Kannada dt). Shirali and Honavar 10 each, Dharmasthala (Dakshina Kannada dt) and Puttur 9 each, Mangalore, Panambur, Mangalore Airport and Karkala (Udipi dt) 8 each and Mulki and Subramanya (both Dakshina Kannada dt), Kundapura and Siddapura (both Udipi dt), and Kannanur 7 each.

WEATHER FORECAST: Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over interior Karnataka. Isolated rain or thunder showers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours.

Forecast for Chennai City and Neighbourhood (valid until Wednesday morning): Partly cloudy. Possibility of shower or thundershowers in some areas during evening or night.

Farmers Weather Bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (Forecast valid until the morning of 28th June 2006): Isolated light to moderate rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
