Muraleedharan and Anilkumar suffer defeats

KOCHI: Kerala's fourth-seeded M.B. Muraleedharan and seventh-seeded O.T. Anilkumar, both former champions here, suffered surprise defeats on Monday in the 18th Cusat Open all-India FIDE-rating chess tournament at the Cochin University's SMS Hall.

But K. Ratnakaran, the runner-up the last two years here, stayed steady and emerged as the lone leader after the fifth round on Monday.
