Assam's ruling coalition gets new name

Coordination committee to assist the Government in formulating policies

Guwahati: The ruling Congress and its coalition partner, the Bodoland People's Progressive Front (Hagrama faction), on Monday agreed to name the coalition Government the Congress and BPPF United Front.

Both the parties also agreed to form a coordination committee to assist the Government in formulating its policies and programmes and monitor their implementation. The decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. The BPPF delegation was led by its president, Hagrama Mahillary. It was decided that Mr. Gogoi would be the chairman and Mr. Mahillary the convener of the seven-member coordination committee.
