KOLKATA: India's top archer Jayanta Talukdar is currently ranked second behind Italy's Ilario di Buo, the individual recurve winner at the third Meteksan World Cup that concluded in San Salvador on Sunday. Talukdar, who had to miss the meet owing to visa problems, is eight points behind Di Buo, who is now on top of the leaderboard with 46 points. Lying third is Magnus Petersson of Sweden with 31 points. Michele Frangilli of Italy shares the fourth spot with Eduardo Magana of Mexico and Markiyan Ivashko of Ukraine, all of who have 26 points. The second World Cup winner Park Kyung-Mo of Korea is next with 25 points and two more archers, Olympic champion Marco Galiazzo of Italy and San Salvador runner-up Wietse van Alten of Holland, are on 23 points.
Hansdah slips
Jhanu Hansdah, the top compound woman archer, who was third before the San Salvador meet, has slipped to ninth position with 22 points, and is virtually out of the World Cup final to be held at Merida in Mexico on October 22. Only four best archers from the four-tournament series will qualify for the final which will offer a prize money of $20,000 to the winner, $10,000 to the runner-up, $5,000 to the third place and $1,000 to the fourth place holder.
