Hyderabad: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has softened its stance towards the CPI (M) by calling it an ally of the party despite its decision to part company in the elections to local bodies. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Finance Minister K. Rosaiah said though the CPI (M) parted ways with it, its leadership had not spoken against continuing support to the UPA Government at the Centre. "The comments of the CPI (M) State secretary B. V. Raghavulu against the ruling party shall be taken in the right spirit. He must have said so in a lighter vein. We continue to be friendly parties and not enemies. We are just not together here as of now," he said. The CPI (M)-TDP tie-up was just an electoral understanding and there was no ideological wedding between them. "It supported us sometime back but was also on its own. Don't forget," he said. Mr. Rosaiah said the TDP's charge that the Congress party was resorting to malpractices would not be taken seriously by the people as the party was committed to the welfare of the people. Indiramma housing programme, increased pensions, free power to farmers, supply of white ration cards and other such programmes were all aimed at community development. No ruling party could distance itself from voters with a rural development agenda, he added urging people to judge the Congress by its work and not by its claims.
