Lead bank in Hassan lauded for exceeding credit disbursal target

    HASSAN: Chief Executive Officer of the Hassan Zilla Panchayat F.R. Jamaadar on Monday lauded the district lead bank for achieving 113 per cent progress by extending Rs. 745.47crore as credit as against the target of Rs. 662.43 crore for 2005-06. Participating in a meeting convened by the Canara Bank to review the district-level progress achieved by the lead bank at its regional office here, he said the bank could achieve success because of the efforts of its officers and implementation authorities.

    He said that it was imperative for officials of the departments concerned to attend the review meeting convened by the lead bank and explain the reasons for their non-performance. Show-cause notice should be issued to such officers by bringing their lapses to the notice of departmental heads, he said.

    District lead bank officer Jayaprakash said the bank had achieved 58 per cent progress by extending Rs. 432.96 crore to the priority sector and 18 per cent improvement by giving Rs. 135.23 crore to the non-priority sector.

    Mr. Jamaadar, who approved a Rs. 170.74-crore action plan under Swarna Jayanthi Rojgar Yojana for 2006-07, asked Planning Director of the District Rural Development Administration Cell Mohan to distribute funds for subsidy, infrastructure development, training and creation of revolving fund.

    Mr. Mohan said efforts were on to extend credit facility to 97 self-help groups and 60 beneficiaries of the yojana. Superintendent of Police Panduranga H. Rane spoke. Assistant general manager of the Reserve Bank of India Meenakshi Gad, deputy general manager of the Canara Bank K.V.P. Gupta, deputy secretary of the zilla panchayat R.G. Nayak and officers of various commercial banks were present.
