ANANTAPUR: The district police have imposed restrictions on the movements of elected representatives including legislators and members of parliament on the day of polling. They should go to the polling stations only to cast their votes and should not venture out for reasons other than that, as per the restrictions imposed under Section 149 of CrPC. Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Jain told newspersons here on Monday that action would be taken against the elected representatives would be taken if they happened to violate the restrictions imposed.
Shoot-at-sight orders
Besides, shoot-at-sight orders were also issued against the elements which would try to disturb law and order with the help of bombs and other lethal weapons. He explained that the movements of elected representatives and other politicians who have criminal cases registered against them would be treated as that of inducement of voters and would be acted upon. Besides, vehicles used for movement of voters to the polling stations was also banned, he said. Section 30 of the Police Act and Section 144 of CrPC would also be in force around the polling stations. Additional police forces were also arranged from Chittoor district and neighbouring Karnataka for the polling exercise, he stated. In all, about 5,000 policemen would be deployed on the polling day.
