Importance of teamwork highlighted

Student leaders advised to respond to the needs of everyone

BANGALORE: Students of Sri Kumaran Children's Home (State Board) had a unique experience of electing their leaders. The teachers selected a couple of students from each class as the candidates. The candidates canvassed support for themselves and spoke about their plans for the school. The elections were held recently.

Karthik S. Bhat was elected the head boy and Nikhila the head girl. Sumukha M. Harish and Malathi Bhat were elected assistant head boy and assistant head girl respectively. Students "exercised their franchise" to elect their house captains too.

At the investiture ceremony, chief guest Ashok Ryall, principal of Bethany High School, and Deepa Sridhar, principal, Sri Kumaran Children's Home (CBSE), pinned the badges and administered oath to the newly elected leaders. Mr. Ryall highlighted the importance of teamwork and advised the leaders to respond to the needs of everyone.

Investiture ceremony

Delhi Public School (North), Yelahanka, held its investiture ceremony recently. The newly elected prefectorial board led by head boy Armaan Reet Bhaskar and the head girl Farheen Ahmed took oath, pledging to fulfil their duties and take the school to greater heights. Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha K. Rahman Khan, who was the chief guest, remarked that the solemnity of the occasion reminded him of the Padma award ceremony.

Principal Sneh Preet Sial advised the newly elected leaders to be responsible and accountable.

At Bishop Cottons

Bishop Cotton Boys School conducted prefects' investiture ceremony on Thursday. The senior teachers of the school selected the senior prefects and they were assigned their duties and responsibilities. Maneesh V. Kuruvilla was selected the school captain, while Nishok David was chosen head of day scholars. Goutham Krishna was chosen the head of boarders. Their selection was based on their overall performance in academics, extra-curricular activities and behaviour. About 35 prefects were also assigned their duties and responsibilities.

Kiran Sebastian, professor at United Theological College and an old student of the school, was the chief guest and he told the new leaders to be sensitive to the needs of fellow students. "Don't ignore anyone," he said.

Induction programme

The induction programme of Ryan International School, Kundalahalli, was held at VSR Convention Hall recently. Tushar Guha, founder and managing director of Nrityanjali, spoke on topics such as "Importance of parenting" and "How to deal with adolescents." The interactive session was informative and interesting and many parents appreciated it. Grace Pinto, director of Ryan Group of Schools, was present.

Felicitation function

VSM English School, Rajajinagar, felicitated meritorious students of tenth class of the academic year 2005-06 recently. The top 10 were given certificates, mementos and books on personality development and education. Secretary Shobha Rao said that the function was aimed at recognising the performance of students. It would also help initiate a strong sense of involvement from parents, she said.

Sachin N. Kalkur was the school topper with 92.16 per cent marks and Shruthi stood second with 91.52 per cent.
