College students `abducted, robbed'
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
Mystery surrounded the reported abduction and robbery of two pre-university students from a reputed college in Malleswaram on Monday.
Police said, according to preliminary reports, two boys, who were standing in front of their college, were reportedly accosted by a few car-borne persons and were dragged in to the car at 11 a.m. The alleged kidnappers later took the boys around Rajajinagar, Nandini Layout and Outer Ring Road and reportedly robbed them of Rs. 1,500 and two mobile phones before pushing them out of the vehicle near ISKCON temple on Chord Road.
However, the police found several loose ends in the story narrated by the students. When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Malini Krishnamurthy told The Hindu that the students were not consistent in their statements. They gave different registration numbers of the car allegedly used to kidnap them and attempts by the police to trace out the car were futile.
Later, parents of those students visited the police station and a complaint of missing mobile phones has been registered, Ms. Krishnamurthy said.
