CET seat selection process begins

BANGALORE: The seat selection process for Common Entrance Test 2006 commenced on Monday with the medical examination and subsequent seat selection by eligible physically challenged candidates.

According to a press release from the CET Cell, three specialists in orthopaedics, ophthalmology and ENT conducted the medical examination.

Over 134 candidates appeared before the medical committee and 81 of them were found eligible for selecting special category of seats reserved for physically challenged candidates.

As many as 129 engineering, 12 medical, two dental, four Ayurveda, one Homoeopathy and one Unani seats were offered under the category.

Of the 81 eligible candidates, 64 chose engineering, 12 selected medical and one selected Ayurveda.

At the end, two dental, three Ayurveda, one Homeopathy, one Unani and 65 engineering seats reserved under the special category remained unfilled, the release said.

On Tuesday, the document verification for NCC candidates would be held and NCC seat selection process would be held on Wednesday, as per the schedule notified in the CET 2006 brochure.
