Trip could have waited: Opposition

  • Opposition was informed about the visit, says M.P. Prakash
  • Speaker was also informed

BANGALORE: The entire Opposition in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday criticised Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy's visit to Singapore and Malaysia when the legislature was in session.

Raising the issue, Kannada Chaluvali member Vatal Nagaraj said it had lowered the dignity of the House.

    M. Mallikarjun Kharge (Congress), J.C. Madhuswamy (JD-U) and G.V. Srirama Reddy (CPI-M) supported Mr. Nagaraj.

Home Minister M.P. Prakash, who replied to Mr. Nagaraj's question on behalf of Mr Kumaraswamy, said the Chief Minister had gone to Singapore and Malaysia on invitations from the Prime Ministers of those countries to attract investments to the State.

The Opposition had been informed about it at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the House on Monday, he said.
