Letters to the Editor
The decision of Warren Buffet, the world's second richest man, to donate a major portion of his wealth to the charity foundation set up by Microsoft chairman Bill Gates is indeed a noble one. Giving away hard-earned money for any cause, even worthy ones such as prevention of diseases, and for basic education and the uplift of the downtrodden, is not easy. Can we hope that the captains of Indian industry will emulate this example?
K. Venkataraman,
* * * More important than the Mittal-Arcelor merger is the merger of sorts between Mr. Gates and Mr. Buffett. The common citizen will be more enthused by this "marriage" that seeks to make the world a better place for all of humanity.
Raghuram Ekambaram,
