Congress dragging in my name: Fernandes
|
George Fernandes
LUCKNOW:
National Democratic Alliance convener and former Defence Minister George Fernandes on Tuesday denied that he had a role in the purchase of essential materials during the 1999 Kargil war.
He criticised the Congress for dragging his name into the Kargil controversy and holding him responsible for pushing the country into the war.
Price rise
Blaming the United Progressive Alliance Government for price rise, Mr. Fernandes said this was the consequence of its failure to address itself to the problems of the common man.
Talking to newspersons at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's house here, he said it was not so important to regroup the non-Congress forces as to ready the people for a mass struggle.
Mr. Yadav said his ties with socialist leaders and the Left parties would be strengthened.
Common platform
Both the leaders said their faith in socialist ideology was the common thread that bound them together.
They could come on a common platform to redress the people's grievances.
