MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for a quantum jump in bilateral cooperation with India, including in the energy and defence fields. Speaking at a bi-annual meeting of Russian diplomats, Mr. Putin said Russia intended to strengthen relations with both India and China. "It is essential to increase dramatically the volume of our trade and the level of investment [with India], our cooperation in the energy and other fields, including military-technical field," Mr. Putin said. Describing Russia's relations with China as "all-embracing" and "friendly," the Russian leader stressed the need to sustain the growth in bilateral ties apace with "dynamic development of China and its changing role in the region and the world."
