Arrangements made for peaceful polling: Collector

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: District Collector Dasari Kadmial assured voters in the district on Tuesday that the administration had taken all measures to ensure free and fair polling and asked them to use their right of franchise without fear or favour.

He also appealed to the contestants, political parties and people to cooperate with the election authorities to ensure peaceful polling. Sufficient police security was arranged at all polling stations and voters should exercise self-discipline and cast their vote to candidates of their choice.

The Collector appealed to the voters not to get induced by contestants or political parties. He also cautioned them against using vehicles arranged by the candidates or parties to reach the polling stations. The voters should make their own arrangements to reach the polling station, even if it was some distance away from their habitation, he emphasised.

Of the 63 ZPTC segments, 62 were going to polls and the remaining seat was won unopposed. Of the 812 MPTC seats, 738 will go to polls. Election in 59 others was unanimous. Fifteen MPTCs are not going to polls, as their term is yet to expire.
