Racing academy to be established

Chennai: Amara Raja Batteries, in association with Narain Karthikeyan, announced the establishment of the Amaron-NK Racing Academy as part of the Amaron Pro Racing initiative at a media conference here on Monday.

As one of the first few initiatives of the academy, racing workshops will be conducted at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. The Academy will also identify four promising drivers through a selection process and will run two teams — Amaron and Speed — for the Formula Rolon Championship.

"This is a major step forward for Indian motorsport and is an opportunity for me to give back something to the sport by sharing my experiences and guiding the drivers," Narain said.

The academy, which will be based in Coimbatore, will look to provide workshops and training programmes to aspiring and promising drivers, give promising drivers an opportunity to race in professional championships.
