Nominations for award invited

NEW DELHI: The Nand and Jeet Khemka Foundation and the Schwab Foundation in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have invited nominations for "Social Entrepreneur of The Year Award 2006'' in India.

The winner will be selected by a distinguished panel of judges. The award ceremony will be held here in November to coincide with the India Economic Summit.

Admissions for ICSI course opens

NEW DELHI: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has opened admissions to its Company Secretaries' Intermediate Course. All graduates in arts, science and commerce, excluding fine arts, are eligible to apply. Applicants who seek admissions till August 31 this year would be eligible to appear for the examination in June 2007.

Prospectus and application forms are available on cash payment of Rs.100 at ICSI headquarters on Lodhi Road and at the ICSI-North India Regional Council Building in Rajendra Place. Prospectus can also be obtained through registered post by sending a demand draft for Rs.150 through any of ICSI's 73 offices across the country.

Cardiovascular treatment

NEW DELHI: Stress can cause transient left ventricular dysfunction, according to Heart Care Foundation of India president K.K.Aggarwal.

In a statement, Dr. Aggarwal said "both physical and emotional stress are known to have an impact on cardiovascular treatment": "Reversible changes in electro-cardiograph and echo have been reported in patients under emotional stress.''

MoU to finance farmers

NEW DELHI: State Bank of India and the National Agriculture Cooperative Marketing Foundation (NAFED) on Tuesday entered into an agreement for financing seed production and cultivation of various crops to be procured by NAFED for commercial trading.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed by them constitutes a broad understanding between SBI and NAFED to finance farmers for production and cultivation of various crops like soybean, paddy, jute and potato.

Park inaugurated

NEW DELHI: Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri inaugurated a park behind Ahimsa Vihar in Sector-9 of Rohini here on Tuesday. MCD has developed the park on 1.18 acres.

Mr. Suri also launched a tree plantation drive by planting a sapling. He appealed to the residents to cooperate in maintenance of the park.
