CB CID takes over case relating to bid on Stalin's life

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CB CID) has taken over investigation of the case relating to the alleged bid on the life of Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin at the Madurai railway station on June 13.

Earlier, the Government Railway Police handled the case.

The CB CID has questioned a few persons, but no clues have been obtained, police sources said. The person who made the attempt stabbed a CRPF head constable, Suresh Kumar Pandey, who intercepted him. The policeman sustained injuries. After the incident, the railway police registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder).

The sources said the identity of the alleged assailant and possible motive were not known. Based on the version of the CRPF constable, a portrait had been drawn.

The image resembled a North Indian.
