Clad in white T-shirts, students carried placards on exercise and self-control to prevent diabetes. Director General of Police D. Mukherjee flagged off the rally.
Star Health and Allied Insurance chairman V. Jagannathan said similar rallies were organised in Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy. About 500 people across the State, including 150 from Chennai, were screened at diabetic camps. The check-up included a glucose tolerance test and general health check up.
The organisation, which has a 24-hour medical call centre for policyholders, plans to educate people on drug abuse shortly.
