Bangalore: Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Commissioner K. Jairaj on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to Silver Jubilee Park (SJP) Road and Freedom Park. Mr. Jairaj directed officials concerned to complete the concrete laying work on SJP Road by August 15 and suggested that traffic be diverted for speedy completion of the project. He ordered that a Nirmala Toilet be constructed on the road and steps for rejuvenation of the historical SJP Park undertaken. Mr. Jairaj directed the Deputy Commissioner of Markets to provide a separate and hygienic place for roadside flower vendors. Upon inspecting the ongoing work at the Freedom Park, Mr. Jairaj asked the authorities concerned not to make any alterations to the original plan and design approved by the BMP. He ordered for the construction of a high-grill compound wall between the six-acre space earmarked for rally and the park. Mr. Jairaj also ordered for a weekly progress report of the work and finances of the project to be undertaken. He directed that the materials dumped near the flyover on Seshadri Road, belonging to Simplex agency be removed.
