ABVP protests against increase in fee in professional colleges

Call to make fee structure affordable for students



VOICE OF PROTEST: Students affiliated to the ABVP staging a demonstration in Gulbarga on Wednesday.

Gulbarga: Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat organised a rasta roko in protest against fee hike in professional colleges, in Gulbarga on Wednesday.

Roads blocked

They blocked the roads at the Vallabhbhai circle for over an hour. They shouted slogans against the Government for fixing high admission fees to professional colleges.

They demanded that the State Government scrap the present fee structure and fix it in a way that was affordable to the students. They demanded that the Government fix Rs. 10,000 as fee for 60 per cent of engineering seats. Fee for the remaining 40 per cent should be fixed at Rs. 85,000 per seat, they said.

For medical seats, they urged the Government to fix Rs. 35,000 as fees for 60 per cent of the seats. Fees for the rest of the seats should be fixed at Rs 2.5 lakh.

For 60 per cent of the dental seats, Rs. 20,000 should be fixed as the fee and for 40 per cent of them, Rs. 2 lakh should be fixed.

They submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and dispersed.
