CHENNAI: Four new state associations formed in Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh have been admitted as members of the All India Chess Federation (AICF). A decision to this effect was taken at the Central Council and the AGM of the AICF held here recently. It was also decided to disaffiliate the current state units in Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and the correspondence association, according to a press release from AICF secretary D.V. Sundar. Another decision taken was to expel P.T. Ummer Koya (former secretary), S.L. Harish (Rajasthan), P.K. Bhaskaran (Kerala) and V.R. Bobba (Andhra Pradesh) "permanently from all activities of the AICF and its affiliates for their acts of omissions and commissions". Also, Soumen Mazumdar (former treasurer), V.K. Ratti (Chhattisgarh), P.C. Chaturvedi (Uttar Pradesh), S. Vijayasarathy (Andhra Pradesh) and Farook Dhar (Jammu and Kashmir) "have been suspended for six years from all activities of the AICF and its affiliates for their acts of omissions and commissions".
