130 new colleges soon

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Government will open 130 pre-university colleges shortly as there was an increase in the number of candidates seeking admission to courses, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basavaraj S. Horatti told the Legislative Council on Wednesday.

Responding to a query from K.T. Srikantegowda (Janata Dal-Secular), Mr. Horatti said the pass percentage in the SSLC examination this year was high. To ensure that more students were admitted to pre-university courses, the Government had also permitted the setting up of 230 private, aided colleges in the current academic year, he added.
